How to Transfer Ownership

Overview

Ownership of a site can be transferred to any existing team member. The new owner will have full administrative control, including billing, team management, and deletion. The previous owner will remain on the team as an Admin unless they choose to leave.

Before You Transfer

Please review the following before initiating a transfer:

  • The recipient must already be a member of the site you’re transferring. If they aren’t, invite them first and wait for them to accept.
  • You must be the current Owner to initiate a transfer — Admins cannot do this.
  • Billing responsibility moves to the new owner. Make sure they are aware and have a payment method ready if needed.
  • Transfers are not reversible without the new owner’s cooperation.

How to Transfer

  1. Navigate to the site you want to transfer.
  2. Go to Settings → Team.
  3. Find the team member you want to transfer ownership to.
  4. Click the ⋯ menu next to their name and select Transfer Ownership.
  5. Review the confirmation dialog — it will summarise exactly what will change.
  6. Click Confirm Transfer.

Both you and the new owner will receive an email confirmation once the transfer is complete.

Transferring an Entire Account

If you need to transfer your entire account (not just a single site), please contact our support team. Account-level transfers are handled manually to ensure billing continuity.

After the Transfer

  • You will remain on the site as an Admin.
  • The new owner will see the site appear in their dashboard immediately.
  • All content, settings, and integrations remain intact — nothing is reset.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I transfer to someone outside my team? Not directly. They must be added as a team member first, accept the invitation, and then you can transfer ownership to them.

What if the new owner doesn’t have a billing method? The next billing cycle will prompt them to add one. There is a 7-day grace period before the site is suspended.

Can I undo a transfer? Not from your end. The new owner would need to transfer ownership back to you using the same process.
